The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to define the standards of conduct and behaviour expected from all individuals enrolled in Oliver Solutions' online professional education courses. The Code outlines values, expectations and responsibilities to promote appropriate behaviour from students throughout the completion of their studies. Students will be held accountable for their actions and those who fail to fulfill their responsibilities will face disciplinary action and may be expelled from a course or a program.
Students will be actively engaged in their education and make best efforts to acquire the knowledge and develop the skills as set out by the identified learning outcomes for that course or program. Students will conduct themselves and treat other students with honesty, integrity and respectfulness.
All students are expected to exhibit the following behaviour:
Unacceptable behaviour by students includes the following:
Students who do not adhere to this Code of Conduct may be subject to the following sanctions:
Non-compliance to the Code of Conduct can be reported by instructors, facilitators, staff or other students by completing an online Non-compliance with the Code of Conduct Form on the Oliver Solutions' website and sending it to the Director of Operations. The Director of Operations, or a person designated by the Director of Operations, will review the form within fourteen days and issue a decision, which will result in a video conference call or a written decision.
Verbal warnings will be issued via a scheduled video conference call with the student and the Director of Operations or a person designated by the Director of Operations. More serious issues will be jointly reviewed by the Director of Operations and the Director, Regulated Professions. Penalties for more serious issues will be issued via written notice to the student from the Director of Operations and the Director, Regulated Professions. The student will be required to acknowledge in writing the receipt of this confidential notice. The notice will state that if the student wishes to appeal the decision the student will have one week to do so. For issues more serious than those requiring a verbal reprimand, the President will be notified. Incidents of non-compliance with this Code of Conduct, when warranted, will be referred to the appropriate regulator which may result in regulatory sanctions for the student.
Specific grounds for appeal by a student might include a denial of the facts as set forth in the Non-compliance with the Code of Conduct Form, new evidence, a procedural error or a claim that the person undertaking the review did not have the authority to do so.
The grounds for appeal information must be submitted by the student in writing to the Director of Operations or a person designated by the Director of Operations within one week of the disciplinary decision being issued. The receipt of the grounds for appeal information must be acknowledged by the Director of Operations, or the person designated by the Director of Operations, within one week.
A response to the appeal must be issued in writing from the Director of Operations, or a person designated by the Director of Operations, to the student within fourteen days of the receipt of the appeal. The Director of Operations will review the issue with the Director, Regulated Professions, and regulators, if they were previously involved in the original decision. The Director of Operations will advise the President of the appeal and the subsequent decision. The written response to the student may grant the appeal, modify the decision or endorse the original decision. This written decision issued by the Director of Operations, and in some cases others as outlined above, to the appellant will be the final decision.
A review of the Code of Conduct will be undertaken by the Director of Operations or a person designated by the Director of Operations, every five years.
